Camp Ta-Kum-Ta

Description:

The nonprofit organization Camp Ta-Kum-Ta needed their site redesigned to display current, easily updatable information along with galleries. The audience is current and prospective campers (Vermont kids who have or have had cancer), parents, sponsors and donors.

Strategy:

HINGE was approached by Camp TKT to improve their website to better reflect the TKT brand, as well as to create a better overall user experience. We worked with the TKT board to develop an expanded site outline and much improved site architecture. Using images from camp, we created a fun collage that speaks to the mission of Camp TKT. Because a lot of TKT fundraisers are put on by outside organizations, a calendar of events was implemented. Fundraisers can easily be promoted and sponsors recognized throughout the year.

The biggest attraction for site visitors has always been the gallery. We improved the gallery system to make it easier to update with the latest images and employed a mini-gallery on the front page that rotate each time the page is refreshed. Hundreds of images are categorized by camp year and day, all of which were processed by HINGE to make them look the best they can in a web environment.

Camp Ta-Kum-ta is the highlight of many campers' year. To help keep spirits up, a Flash ™ countdown clock reminds campers that camp is only a matter of days away. Because TKT is a non-profit, sponsors have a huge impact on the continuation of the organization. A special bubble in the banner thanks sponsors and links to a page with links to their respective websites. The home page is a forum for News and Events. It keeps the content fresh and intriguing for site visitors.
